Many times websites have drop down menus, pop up links and other transitional features. These incorporate a more dynamic, aesthetically pleasing aspect to the website. But why leave it to a simple drop down? What if you wanted more of a Flash animation feel for certain elements? If you’re a web developer you should have knowledge using jQuery and CSS. You can easily implement such techniques into your website.
If you’re just starting out with web development I want to share a jQuery menu tutorial inspired by Pelican Hotel. The tutorial is provided by Mary Lou, a writer for Codrop. She goes in detail about designing a creative animated text and icon menu using jQuery. She also implements CSS to pull the design together.
“The idea is to make some elements slide out, change and animate the background color of the item and then slide the elements back in with a different color.”
It’s a very straight forward tutorial so I hope you get a lot out of it while creating your next website menu.
